What is Quality Web Development?

September 10, 2011 by admin Leave a Comment

For everyone who is contemplating or about to embark on the creation of a website for business or other purposes, the question regarding quality when it comes to web development is uppermost in the mind. What parameters define quality website development? What features, functionality, design, and content will create an online presence for the organization or the individual that will best serve the purpose for which it is intended?

Well, my bro’, the answer to that and such questions will depend on who is asking, why, and similar factors. Website development is a vast area with a gazillion options to cater to every taste and pocket. For the present purpose, allow me to make some peremptory suggestions:

  1. Web Development:
  2. Web Development

The navigability, loading time, and like issues depend upon how the website has been developed and designed. The pages should not be too heavy or take forever to load. A person who has clicked through to your site might steer clear just because it too long for the site to load. Also, navigation should be facilitated in every way possible without creating such a multiplicity of options that it becomes confusing for the user. Keeping it short and sweet, the website should be perfectly user friendly, to ensure the user feels like using it the next time.

  3. Web Design:
  4. Website Design

The best websites have a minimalistic design. These avoid bright colors as a rule, since looking at glaring color on the computer screen can be a major strain on the eye. The composition of the various fields on a layout should be at once immediately comprehensible and crystal clear. Too much color spoils the web page. Décor, not decoration, should be the rule of thumb for website design.

  5. Web Content:
  6. Contents Writing

The best web content should address what the searcher came looking for – directly, quickly, and in an easily comprehensible manner. Writing fewer words to describe the same concepts that are explained in 1000+ words elsewhere is more of a challenge than the other way round. Such content appeals to the user not because he/she is a fan of the writing style but because it leads him/her to things he/she is looking for. Clear, concise, and correct – that’s the name of the game.

These are the broad areas that need urgent attention insofar as making a USEFUL website is concerned. In addition to these, there will of course be things to consider depending on the kind of development of website (whether static or dynamic, etc.), the purpose for which it is to be created (business or other), and the personal preferences of the commissioner of the website. I will of course take these up at a later date; in the meantime, do get back with your own idea of perfect website development.
